Media Director

About The Role

The Media Director oversees and champions PACO’s holistic media operations approach including brand, marketing strategy, and digital channels. This role will also be responsible for developing and/or managing client media budgets for assigned accounts. The Media Director keeps senior management apprised of key client opportunities and potential risks to overall business success at the agency along with preparing and presenting annual financial plans. The Media Director will lead the media team ensuring collaboration with other departments to share ideas, communicate service offerings and deliver new client solutions.

Essential Functions

Media Performance and Client Leadership

  • Builds and sustains relationships with our media partners and vendors
  • Develops and fosters account relationships working towards 100% account retention within defined portfolio of accounts
  • Develops a complete understanding of each client’s goals, markets, needs and expectations
  • Works within client relationships to champion initiatives that drive marketing decisions across media channels
  • Consults with senior client marketing and business leaders to define and answer most important business questions
  • Advocates across functional areas within client relationships to develop rapport and deliver comprehensive and meaningful marketing solutions
  • Builds and delivers presentations with a clear analytics story of the why behind the importance of the work and an action plan based on data-driven findings
  • Has a firm understanding of culture, multicultural media, and diverse consumers
  • Manages strategy development and execution for marketing analysis disciplines, such as segmentation, attitudinal/motivational analysis, concept/copy testing, sales forecasting, response prediction, advertising effectiveness, consumer profiling, customer profitability analysis (lifetime value), media mix modelling, conversion attribution analysis and ROI measurement
  • Designs custom media measurement plans using a diverse set of tools to find causal relationships between media executions and business outcomes
  • Continuously learns about the evolving media landscape including research and emerging trends to provide insights to clients and within the agency

Team Leadership & Development

  • Embraces and encourages a culture based on collaboration, and intellectual curiosity
  • Motivates, leads, and manages internal teams
  • Drives adoption of stated account management best practices through example setting positive reinforcement and performance development
  • Conducts performance reviews and career path plans for direct reports
  • Establishes expectations and goals for team on performance marketing thought leadership
  • Provide cross media planning training for direct reports

Process Improvement and Cross-Selling

  • Facilitates the development and documentation of best practices to improve operational efficiencies within the media team and agency overall
  • Contributes to blog, newsletter, training forums and/or task forces
  • Understands and explains the features and benefits of all products and services

  • Bachelor’s degree, concentration in business, marketing, or advertising preferred
  • 5-7 years of media planning and buying experience in advertising (paid search, display, social, digital, video or affiliate), direct marketing, or e-commerce
  • 5+ years of experience in interactive marketing or business consulting using data and information to drive specific targeting and marketing recommendations
  • Extensive knowledge of multicultural and diverse consumer segments
  • Deep knowledge of ad serving platforms and online analytic solutions
  • 2-4 years of demonstrated success in managing and leading people
  • 2-4 years of digital marketing, search engine, display and/or social marketing preferred
  • Up to date with the latest marketing and advertising trends/ tools
  • Working knowledge of media buying and analytical tools like Strata, MediaOcean, MRI, Scarborough
  • Digital, Programmatic, and Social media buying experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
