Public Relations Account Supervisor

About The Role

The Public Relations Account Supervisor is responsible for communicating the agency’s position on topics and issues to the media and public in general. Accountable for relationship building, strategy, campaign development & management, and business analysis. Acts as the client’s liaison with the agency, ensuring client’s objectives are met and the client is getting the best results from the entire agency team. Strategic thinker with a keen understanding of the diverse world we live in. Provide day-to-day strategic planning and account management to diverse client base. Effectively leads a team of Account Executives/Coordinators. 

Essential Functions

  • Maintains direct, day-to-day, senior level client contact 
  • Manages junior team members; fosters development and gainful employment of assigned staff 
  • Devises and effectively sells in communications strategy and/or plans to clients 
  • Daily point of contact with key media contacts 
  • Developing industry, sector and product focused PR campaigns 
  • Managing the needs of the client and their accounts 
  • Contributing to daily meetings, and liaising and updating clients on PR activities 
  • Keeping abreast of current PR trends and tools 
  • Building client relationships and maintaining a network of media contacts including journalists and industry spokespeople 
  • Spearheading both traditional PR and social media projects 
  • Developing news angles, stories and pitches to further the client’s profile, products and services. 
  • Fulfilling the client’s key performance indicators and growing accounts 
  • Being involved in pitching for new business and developing PR proposals 
  • Take active role in future planning and idea generation for Client, providing strategic input and formulating innovative solutions to existing marketing and communications problems 
  • Receives client briefings in order to provide strategic planning, media, public relations and other cross functional department personnel with well-documented input, support data and production materials as required; ensures that strategies are clearly defined, approved by clients, and understood by cross functional teams 
  • Keeps apprised of all relevant client, industry and market developments 
  • Oversees preparation of client estimates and invoices for client approval and processing 
  • Fosters development and gainful employment of junior account service staff  
  • Coordinates project timing and budgets with all relevant agency and client personnel 
  • Writes Client Contact Reports; reviews important developments with relevant account executives and management as appropriate 
  • Prepares month-end overviews of client’s current activities, and monthly revenue forecasts, plus plans for future development of accounts 
  • Seeks out new business opportunities with new and existing clients and plays a supportive role in their development 
  • Represents the agency at industry functions, promoting the agency at every opportunity and is fully familiar with agency credentials and specialties 
  • Continuously works to upgrade knowledge and skills through available reading, courses and seminars 
  • Other duties as assigned
